2022 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Amateur Yacht Research Society will be held during  our ‘All-day’ meeting that is planned for Sunday 23 January 2022 at the Basingstoke Canal Centre.  The ‘All-day’ meeting is planned to start at 10:45am, the AGM at 2:00pm.   The AGM will be broadcast by Zoom so that distant members can participate, including voting.  Depending on time available, we may also be able to use Zoom to tell the remote audience a bit about our proceedings during the technical part of our ‘all-day’ meeting. Items to be considered by the AGM, including nominations for the committee and items to be included under ‘Any Other Business’ – item 8 below, must be received by the AYRS Secretary (secretary@ayrs.org) before 24th December 2021.  

The agenda for the AGM is:

  1. Applogies for absence
  2. Presentation of the Minutes of the 2021 Annual General Meeting for approval
  3. Chairman’s Report
  4. Treasurer’s Report and approval of accounts
  5. Confirmation of President and Vice Presidents
  6. Election of Officers and Committee Members
  7. Apointment of Reporting Accountant
  8. Any other business: we have two proposals to be considered at this AGM, these as detailed as Proposal 1 and Proposal 2 below.

PROPOSAL 1: APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY
Proposer: Mike Howard – Hon Editor – AYRS

‘That the AYRS Committee should consider appointing a MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY as a separate Officer and that the Hon Treasurer should relinquish all the duties assigned to this new post.’

 

PROPOSAL 2: INCREASE IN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEES
Proposer: Mike Howard – Hon Editor – AYRS

‘That the AYRS Committee consider increasing the Annual Membership Fees in the majority of classes as follows:
UK and Overseas Members (Digital Catalyst) to remain at 10.00 GBP
UK Members (hard copy Catalyst): Increase from 20.00 GBP to 30.00 GBP
UK Retired Members (hard copy Catalyst): Increse from 10.00 GBP to 20.00 GBP
Overseas Members (hard copy Catalyst): Increase from 30.00 GBP to 40.00 GBP’

Note that we have scheduled a Zoom meeting for January 8th, (Click here) and this will provide an opportunity for a preliminary discussion of the above two proposals in advance of the AGM.
