Zoom Meeting – From the West Indies to New Zealand – Bernard Rhodes
13 June, 2020 @ 19:30 - 20:30
At our previous meeting, Bernard Rhodes gave us a fascinating talk about how back in the 1960’s he designed and built a small plywood trimaran to travel the world and to escape from what he found to be a dull job working as an apprentice in the shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness. Bernard’s previous presentation covered his preparations for voyaging and his travels from Cumbria UK to the West Indies including storms and calms, boat repairs and parties with other world voyagers and also a period during which he worked with Dick Newick completing the famous racing proa ‘Cheers’. Next week Bernard will continue with his voyage on to New Zealand where he settled on Waiheke Island, the place where still lives today. So all welcome to join us on Zoom on Saturday 13 June at 19:30 British Summer Time (which will be Sunday morning for Bernard in New Zealand). The link to join the meeting is:
