Zoom Meeting – From the West Indies to New Zealand – Bernard Rhodes

At our previous meeting, Bernard Rhodes gave us a fascinating talk about how back in the 1960’s he designed and built a small plywood trimaran to travel the world and to escape from what he found to be a dull job working as an apprentice in the shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness. Bernard’s previous presentation covered his preparations for voyaging and his travels from Cumbria UK to the West Indies including storms and calms, boat repairs and parties with other world voyagers and also a period during which he worked with Dick Newick completing the famous racing proa ‘Cheers’. Next week Bernard will continue with his voyage on to New Zealand where he settled on Waiheke Island, the place where still lives today. For those who are not familiar with Zoom, it is a video conferencing system that has gained popularity in recent months. To join the meeting simply click the link above a few minutes befor the meeting start time and if you have the Zoom software installed on your computer or other internet access device you should then be directed to the meeting. You can get the (free) software at www.zoom.us/download. The software you need for a Windows or Apple computer is the top button in the list, it is labelled ‘Zoom Client for Meetings’. There is also Zoom software available for Apple, Andriod and Linux. Plenty of further information about Zoom is available from the internet.
