Zoom Meeting – Bernard Rhodes tells us about sailing to Japan on ‘Flying Carpet’

For our November Zoom meeting Bernard Rhodes who lives on Waiheke Island, New Zealand gave us a fascinating presentation about designing and building his 10m cruising catamaran ‘Flying Carpet’.  This catamaran has a ‘biplane’ rig, i.e. a mast in each hull and the individual mainsails are themselves innovative being two skin sails, perhaps a forerunner to the ‘soft wingsails’ used on current America’s Cup yachts.

For our December Zoom meeting Bernard will continue on from our November meeting by showing us pictures from a trip to Japan on the Flying Carpet.

Also – This will be our last Zoom meeting prior to our AGM on 21st January 2024 so it is an opportunity for members to mention any matter they think should be considered at the AGM or to nominate new AYRS committee members.
