Canal Outing
For the last few years I have suggested a canal outing on the Sunday following our Saturday meeting at the Basingstoke Canal Centre. More often than not Josephine and I do this canal trip on our own with our home made row boat but other members are very welcome to join us, which has occasionally happened in the past.
The Basingstoke canal has some very pretty stretches, especially with the autumn leaves in the woodland along much of the canal. We will decide on the day which stretch of canal we will explore this year and we will make sure that our route includes a stop for lunch at a canal side pub.
This would be suitable for canoes, rowboats, small motor boats, I think also stand up paddle-boards, but not boats with masts since there are overhanging trees and low bridges. Or you could take a stroll along the towpath and join us for a pub lunch.
