Hapas free to a good home

Post by TheoSchmidt »

Roger Glencross has a collection of Hapas or "Chiens de mer", made by Didier Coste and/or Stéphane Rousson (see http://www.seaglider.fr/Seaglider/Seagl ... story.html, http://www.seaglider.fr/Seaglider/Bienvenue.html, https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voilier_des_airs, https://www.bateaux.com/article/19065/ ... dirigeable, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KKnb0vQyzI.

Roger has used these at almost every Speedweek for many years in order to try to aeroglide using a hang-glider or a parachute but now has to stop due to age. He is offering any or all to a good home, that is somebody who would like to carry on in the footsteps of Hagedoorn, Costes, Rousson and Glencross, or at least sail a canoe like I did, or document them (drawings, photos, measurements). I could do the latter but Roger was quoted £2800 for shipping them from Weymouth to Switzerland where I live, even before customs duty!

So, anybody interested in collecting at Weymouth, please apply here or directly to Roger.

Hi

If Roger still has the Hapas and wants to donate one to a new project I would be very happy to collect it!
I have just retired and decided now is the moment to get to grips with my passion for innovation and sailing. My previous attempt 35 years ago failed and resulted in a collection of custom windsurfers and unused blanks still sitting in the garden - but a very successful consulting engineering company!
I think the lesson is that starting manufacturing windsurfers in London EC1 was maybe not the right place!

I anyone would like a foam blank they would be most welcome.

The next project will be to try and sort out WIG flying/sailing and for that, I need a Happa and anyone else who fancies having a go.

Hi
I would love to put one of these to good use. Well, explore the possibilities should I say.
30 years ago I started two companies at once to see which was best. One was as a custom windsurf maker and the other as a built environment engineering consultant. We were based in London EC1- guess which one succeeded - Correct the wrong one! After a very successful career as a consultant, I am now back trying to solve the issue of sailing in ground effect and a Hapa is what I need.
So happy to collect from anywhere.

Oh, if anyone would like a foam 1980s windsurfer blank, I still have a few in the garden!
Andy
