Zoom Mtg. No. 8 – Design and Construction of a 21 foot Trimaran – Bernard Rhodes

Bernard Rhodes from New Zealand will give the first part of a presentation about a 21 foot trimaran and the remarkable voyage he made with this boat from the UK to New Zealand back in the '70s. I think this first part will cover just the design and construction of the boat pictured above. Zoom Meeting – From the West Indies to New Zealand – Bernard Rhodes

At our previous meeting, Bernard Rhodes gave us a fascinating talk about how back in the 1960's he designed and built a small plywood trimaran to travel the world and to escape from what he found to be a dull job working as an apprentice in the shipyard at Barrow-in-Furness. Zoom meeting – tell us about your ‘lockdown’ projects and recent boating activity

We are now holding our on-line meetings on a monthly rather than weekly basis.  All but one of our on-line meetings to date have followed the format of a presentation followed by questions from the audience.  We plan to continue this format as and when we have speakers offering to give presentations but we may not be able to have speakers for every meeting so this month's meeting will be an experiment with a more open meeting format.  I expect…

CANCELLED – AYRS Meeting During Weymouth Speedweek

CANCELLED as Speedweek itself has been cancelled due to COVID   We hope to arrange an AYRS evening meeting for Weymouth Speedweek, probably on Wed. 7 Oct, details TBC.  Weymouth Speedweek itself (www.speedsailing.com) is not an AYRS event, although the AYRS has been closely associated with it over many years. (All our events are currently announced with the proviso that we cannot be sure that they will not be affected by covid-19)

Zoom Meeting – Skip Johnson presents his latest proa project
