SUMMARY:Weymouth Speedweek with AYRS meeting on Wednesday of the week
DESCRIPTION:Weymouth Speedweek is based at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (DT5 1SA) and this year will be held from the 3rd to 10th October.  For more information look here: https://weymouthspeedweek.com \nThe AYRS will hold a technical discussion meeting on Wed 7th October – Bar open from 19:00 at Weymouth Sailing Club\, Nothe Parade\, Weymouth\, Dorset\, DT4 8TX .  Nothe Parade is the lane leading down the quayside on the west side of Weymouth harbour.  It is pedestrian only so you need to find parking elsewhere then walk down to the far end of the quayside to reach the sailing club. \nAll are invited to our Speedweek Wednesday evening meeting – AYRS members\, Speedweek competitors and spectators\, Weymouth Sailing Club members. \nOur Weymouth meeting has always been well attended and has included lively discussion\, mostly around the design of board sailing equipment and performance sailing craft in general. SUMMARY:Meeting at the Basingstoke Canal Centre\, Surrey
DESCRIPTION:We meet at the Basingstoke Canal Centre (BCC)\, a few minutes from M3 junction 4\, postcode  GU16 6DD. We have the use of the room from 10am to 5pm but need to allow for tidying and running the vacuum cleaner over the floor at the end.  We call this an all-day meeting but feel free to come and leave as you wish\, we aim to have the kettle on for those arriving around 10:15. \nThe meeting will include a mixture of informal discussion and prepared presentations. If you have something prepared and can let me know about it in advance of the meeting I can allow you a time slot but otherwise we will sort out a program on the day.  We will have some means to display digital material from USB devices.  Feel free to bring models\, posters\, boat parts\, or even whole boats (road transportable ones!) to show other members.  Lunch is at the on-site café which serves a range of sandwiches and hot dishes.  We accept donations to contribute to room hire and to provision of light refreshments during the day. \nThe BCC has a website Here

SUMMARY:Canal Outing
DESCRIPTION:For the last few years I have suggested a canal outing on the Sunday following our Saturday meeting at the Basingstoke Canal Centre.  More often than not Josephine and I do this canal trip on our own with our home made row boat but other members are very welcome to join us\, which has occasionally happened in the past. \nThe Basingstoke canal has some very pretty stretches\, especially with the autumn leaves in the woodland along much of the canal.   We will decide on the day which stretch of canal we will explore this year and we will make sure that our route includes a stop for lunch at a canal side pub. \nThis would be suitable for canoes\, rowboats\, small motor boats\, I think also stand up paddle-boards\, but not boats with masts since there are overhanging trees and low  bridges.
